Joe is a GP Obstetrician/Rural Generalist with further training in reproductive health, skin cancer medicine and rural/remote and emergency medicine.
He is known for his patient-centered and restorative care, and thoroughness across the breadth of General Practice. He has a special interest in fertility-awareness and infertility, and is a founding Director of the Australasian Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine. He is also actively involved in several research projects in sexual and reproductive health.
Before medicine, he completed a Ph.D. in pharmacokinetics and taught in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney. In addition to his teaching appointment at the University of New England, he is an honorary Senior Lecturer in the Rural Clinical School/Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland.
Joe has moved back to Armidale with his wife and two young children after working in procedural obstetrics in Coffs Harbour, and having a stint with an Emergency and Expedition Medicine company in the Philippines on the set of Survivor.
Outside of work he enjoys keeping active playing hockey, and motorcycle riding.
